Provence- how many days & where to go
We will be in Provence in early August . Where do you suggest we go, how many days should we allow here, what are the top top hotels? We will have a car and be driving up from Nice.
Many thanks

I suggest you get a good guide book and map, and then come back to ask more specific questions and to tell us what your interests are, what price range you're thinking of for a top, top hotel, how many days are possible, etc. Do you prefer cities, towns, villages, countryside?

Do you have my 27 page Provence/Cote d'Azur itinerary???? I've sent it to over 3,000 people on Fodors. If you would like a copy, e-mail me at [email protected] & I'll attach one to the reply e-mail.

In Avignon, the top hotel is La Mirande, I believe, at least one of the best. http://www.la-mirande.fr/
I don't recommend an apt, it doesn't sound like that's what you want, anyway, especially if you are on a driving tour to some extent. And if you want top hotels, you don't want a DIY apartment. And many of the vacation apts won't have AC.
In Aix, it's probably the Villa Gallici. Here is a listing by star rating, you can see the top hotels. http://en.aixenprovencetourism.com/a...s-5-centre.htm
I stayed in the Mas d'Entremont (first one listed under 4*), and loved it. It is just outside of Aix, which was very convenient for touring the area with a car.

Mas d'Entremont was found by accident when we were forced by frustration to get out of the terrible traffic chaos around Aix. What a delight...a glass of wine, an apple tart and a tour of the buildings and grounds. Apparently it was thehome of an architect made into a hotel. We were sorry we could not stay there but we had a place in Lombec (sp?)
