Hilton Inn Chelsea or Affinia Manhattan?

Hilton Inn Chelsea or Affinia Manhattan?
I thought I had made up my mind! I booked a room in the Hilton Inn Chelsea hotel (fully cancellable), but now I've seen that the Affinia Manhattan is offering a studio suite for $80 more (which is less than $10 a day). The Affinia has a full kitchenette, while the Hilton inn only has a microwave and fridge, and apart from that they seem similar; they both offer free wifi, and seem to be in the same general area. What do you think? Can you recommend one over the other? Should I changthe reservation, or do I keep it?

If you think you are going to make some simple meals from time to time, then the small upgrade for the full kitchenette is a good deal, and these are pretty good rooms. I'm also not crazy about the location, but it is definitely convenient to everything (more convenient than the Hilton Garden Inn, I would argue).

Thanks for your answers. I've seen in Google Maps that the Affinia is very close to the station, so maybe not a beautiful area, and probably very busy. But, on the other hand, the Hilton inn is placed in a similar area, among florist shops, so I can image it also has lots of noise from lorries in the early hours. When you say you don't like the location, do you mean it's not beautiful, and it's very busy, or it's unsafe, unpleasant?
Regarding the kitchenette, I'm a solo traveller and, after a long, exhausting day out and about, I like to be able to just have a shower, and eat something in my bedroom instead of going out again looking for a restaurant. Not everyday, but some days, depending on what I've done. (I know I can also use take-away, but the kitchenette seems appealing).
Also, I think the Affinia is better connected, but the hilton inn is just a pair of streets away, so I could just walk this distance).
Please, keep opinions coming - I'll keep thinking about it.

It's not about safety but more about aesthetics. Unless you've got a special offer, none of the Affinias include free wifi. It's something like $10-15/day. I don't love the location of either of your options, esp. since e areadoesn't have a lot of close, decent dining and wonder why you don't consider something in more of a neighborhood?

PS you got loads of great options in your pevious thread, most of which IMO would be better than these 2. You are looking WAAAAAY too early for next Aug. imo. If you want to book something cancelable, fine. But I sure wouldnt prepay now for next Aug. and be tied into a noncancelable booking.

Of course I'm looking for something cancelable, I'm not going to pay now for next August! I do know it's very, very early days, but things (both professional and personal) have added up, and I'm going to have a very hectic time from early November till mid-June. That's why I want to organise this as soon as possible, so that it's one less thing to worry about. Dining is not a priority for me, that's why I'm looking for something with a kitchenette where I can prepare something quick. And of course I'd like to be in a more beautiful area, but I'm on a restricted budget, and these two options are the ones that best meet my requirements and my budget so far.

The one advantage to the Hilton Garden Inn is a proximity to Whole Foods, which has nice prepared foods (both hot and cold) that would not require any real prep and would be great for a quick dinner in the room. There is an Asian food market near the Affinia Manhattan (on 32nd Street) and some places that sell "salad bar" items (hot and cold foods sold by the pound, which tend to be less good but more expensive than those at Whole Foods. There's no fast food near the Affinia Manhattan.
Neither area is very scenic, and both have their pros and cons.

Thanks for your help. I understand these areas are not scenic, and had not thought about food stores... But, our or personal reasons, I'd like to leave this matter solved (although with a cancelable reservation which can be changed if something better arises) I'll keep thinking about it.

On other forums, I've read countless people really liking the Affinia Manhattan. I think it's fine to just book it, be done with it, then check again much closer to travel time to see if there is a summer sale on a property you like more.
