Prague Hotels -Old Town
I am just starting my research for our 2014 Europe trip. First stop - Prague for 3 nights. I'll be using hotel points and have about 5 options so I'm looking for some suggestions on hotels in the old town. Must have a nice bathroom with a standup shower and some old world charm if that's possible.

We stayed at the Marriot on Celnici some years back and were very happy with the experience, the front desk staff was friendly and extremely helpful and you couldn't ask for a better location. Not too sure about the "old world charm" though, but I'd highly recommend it

We stayed at the Hilton on Celnici in summer 2012. Realize you are using points, but do want to point out we "won" 2 rooms at $75/night/each on Priceline. We bid on a 5 star hotel. At that rate, you might want to keep the points and pay out of pocket. We liked the Hilton very much. The only downside to using Priceline was that the hotel rooms did not come with breakfast. Had we chosen to eat in the hotel, that would have been 30E/ea. However, there is a lovely French style bistro a couple doors down that did a lovely breakfast for the equivalent of 8-10E/ea or many other choices on the street. The hotel also had a limo that took us a few places around town, to the pier for a boat ride and to Kampa Island for a dinner evening. Not free, but basically a tip to the driver.
The rooms has small refrigerators and there is a lovely, modern grocery store kitty corner to the hotel. The Imperial Cafe, where we ate a couple of times is a 2 min walk. Good location.

well, if anything goes, my favorite hotel is the Hotel Pariz in Prague, very central (it is near Powder Gate and not far from some of these other mentions), and it does have some old world charm. http://www.hotel-paris.cz/en/
I've also stayed at the Maximillian a couple times and really liked it and its location a lot. However, they did redecorate and now it has no "charm". http://www.maximilianhotel.com/

Too bad about the Pariz, loved it and I got rates that weren't that high a few years ago, but that's because it was August when there were discounts.
Along the same lines is the Grand Hotel Bohemia, just around the corner pretty much http://www.grandhotelbohemia.cz/rooms.html
I think it may be similar rates to the Pariz, though.
