I'll be with my two teenagers. They aren't going to be interesting in doing sightseeing in Rome. I'm trying to figure out how to see something beautiful without going through castles or museums. Maybe a quaint town or two with interesting architecture, great food, unique enviroment...

"<i>South of France or Italy sound great...how long of a drive?</i>"
If you only have 2 or 3 days you cannot possibly drive to the south of France and back. For instance, from Berlin to Nice is at least a 15 hour drive each way . . .
Perhaps you need a map.

Okay, so that was helpful...south of France about 15 hours...we'll forget the driving option. I'll look into flights. Has anyone been to the South of France or Amalfi coast...recommendations?

don't bother with the amalfi in March - it'll be dead.
the south of france, Lisbon, Barcelona [great for teens] would be on my list or what about Marakesh? My DD aged 24 went there in November and had a ball so it would be fine in March I think.
