Home Team, as the bar and restaurant is called, has swiftly earned the endorsement of even the old-school barbecue set (the restaurant's newfangled pork tacos notwithstanding). And they've done so with time-honored adherence to the oft-preferred technique of low-and-slow grilling, producing St. Louis-style ribs, and traditional smoked pork and chicken. Dress up your meal with three tableside sauces, including vinegar flavored, tomato tinged, and a mustard-based concoction, befitting South Carolina's German heritage. Side offerings are a good measuring stick for any barbecue joint, and Home Team delivers with mashed potatoes, mac 'n' cheese, collards, red rice, baked beans, Brunswick stew, poppy-seed slaw, and potato salad.
