Verandah

$$-$$$, American, South Strip

User Rating: ** 2.2

Fodor's Review:

Informal, peaceful, and refined, this beautifully decorated though somewhat overlooked gem at the Four Seasons offers the perfect antidote to the noisier and flashier restaurants elsewhere at Mandalay Bay. It's easy to carry on a conversation outside on the tropically landscaped terrace or inside the dining room with its muted colors and candlelit tables. Service here rivals any in town, and the presentation and quality of the innovative dishes leaves nothing to be desired, especially considering the comparatively reasonable prices. You might start with the smoked salmon-and-potato galette with celery-root rémoulade and lemon essence, followed by mushroom-truffle gnocchi with broad beans or pistachio-crusted New Zealand snapper with roasted corn, pearl pasta, and citrus sauce. Many of Mandalay Bay's best restaurants don't serve breakfast or lunch -- Verandah does an admirable job with both.

Does not measure up.

Prices are high... and the food just does not meet expectations. Try another restaurant nearby, Table 34... bettter food, service, and prices. Not as 'fancy'... but a better place to dine.
