Boston Restaurants

Silvertone

Updated 11/13/2013

Fodor's Review

Devotees of this retro-cool basement restaurant with reasonable prices swear by the no-fuss options such as a truly addictive macaroni and cheese topped with crispy bacon, meat loaf with mashed potatoes, and steak tips. Among the more creative offerings are the appetizers, such as the Caesar salad with honey-chili chicken, and the fish of the day, which might be trout amandine or locally caught bluefish. The wine list is compact but varied and retains one of the lowest

mark-ups in the city. Once the after-work crowd pours in, some say the room can become overly loud, the service spotty, and the wait for a table too long.

A little comfort food gem

Basement level restaurant and bar that serves a solid yet hip take on comfort food classics (mac and cheese, meatloaf, etc.). Wine prices are a bargain at just $10 above retail cost. Capable service, too. A hidden jewel worth finding.

The Price is Right

Silvertone is a great place to grab lunch and a beer. A majority of my lucnh breaks were spent at Silvertone's eating and chatting with friends for about and hour. The service is quite good and the food is simple and comforting. The price is right. Check out this place if you get a chance.

It's crowded, but good

Silvertone's is very good. There's often a long line and the place isn't very big so the wait staff are very efficient, but friendly. Not really a place to linger over your food, although the staff isn't pushy, but you can always hang out at the bar.
