Silvertone Review

Devotees of this retro-cool basement restaurant with reasonable prices swear by the no-fuss options such as a truly addictive macaroni and cheese topped with crispy bacon, meat loaf with mashed potatoes, and steak tips. Among the more creative offerings are the appetizers, such as the Caesar salad with honey-chili chicken, and the fish of the day, which might be trout amandine or locally caught bluefish. The wine list is compact but varied and retains one of the lowest mark-ups in the city. Once the after-work crowd pours in, some say the room can become overly loud, the service spotty, and the wait for a table too long.

    A little comfort food gem

Basement level restaurant and bar that serves a solid yet hip take on comfort food classics (mac and cheese, meatloaf, etc.). Wine prices are a bargain at just $10 above retail cost. Capable service, too. A hidden jewel worth finding.
