Marriott Long Wharf

Fodor's Review:

Families can't resist this waterfront hotel, thanks to its close proximity to New England Aquarium, whale-watch tours, and the shops and restaurants of Quincy Market. Even the Italian-flavored North End isn't far, if you're willing to walk a bit. Cute Christopher Columbus Park is right outside the door, with brick walkways and wisteria-covered archways. And then there's the Marriott's great swimming pool, overlooking the harbor, plus a huge gym and an itty-bitty game room.convenience is the name of the game here. Jutting out into the bay, this airy, multi-tiered redbrick hotel resembles a ship. Most of the rooms, pleasantly decorated in cream and gold brocade with pillow-top mattresses, open onto a five-story atrium. Some rooms have views of the park or New England Aquarium. Clean-freak alert: Plush feather duvets on the beds are changed every night. There's no excuse to avoid the gym here—it's open 24 hours a day. Head to Quincy Market instead of eating on-site, even for breakfast. Pros: waterfront location, good weekend rates (check the Web for deals), convenience store close by. Cons: standard guest rooms are small for families, so you'll need adjoining rooms or a suite; restaurant is pricey.
