Just a block and a half from Commander's Palace Restaurant, the Grand Victorian more than lives up to its lofty name. Each lavishly appointed room evokes old Louisiana with period pieces and distinctive private baths. The Greenwood Suite includes a hot tub, stained-glass windows, and a private balcony that extends across the front of the house and overlooks historic St. Charles Avenue. An oak-shaded common balcony on the second floor stands atop a traditional New Orleans garden. A Continental breakfast is served in either the dining room or on the balcony. Pros: true elegance; rooms are exquisitely appointed; possibly the best B&B value in the area. Cons: located on a high-traffic street.
