Fodor's Expert Review National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame

Far North and Far Northwest Sides Free

The NIASHF was founded by George Randazzo in 1978 to honor Italian American athletes. Among the first inductees was baseball legend Joe DiMaggio; others include Rocky Marciano, Yogi Berra, Mary Lou Retton, and Phil Rizzuto. Originally housed in Elmwood Park, then Arlington Heights, then Little Italy, the collection is now located in the Dunning neighborhood. If you're interested in relics like the last coat worn by Vince Lombardi as the Green Bay Packers coach or Mario Andretti's Indy 500 race car, this is your kind of place.
