This luau—on a former sugar plantation manager's estate—has a twist: all guests arrive at the feast by horse-drawn carriage (reservations are staggered to prevent lines). Families especially seem to enjoy the food and fun here. Even though sugar plantations are a decidedly Western affair, this luau feels more authentic than those on a portable stage on resort grounds. The evening's theme is the history of sugar on the islands. Tahitian drumming and fire dancing add zest to the whole affair.
