This is a beautiful spot, with high ceilings and a lanai overlooking the ocean. It offers a well-rounded seafood menu, including loads of fresh oysters and creative Pacific Rim dishes like pan-seared opah (moonfish) in cardamom sauce and, when available, delicate farm-raised moi. However, the kitchen and the service have been slipping of late, and with entrées prices just as high as they are at nearby resort restaurants, you might want to opt for one of these better neighbors instead. If you're in the mood for an early dinner (before 6:30 PM), however, Coast Grille has a selection of very reasonably priced three-course prix-fixe meals; the reasonable price, combined with the views, make up for the average food.

My husband and I had a very nice dinner here - the service was fine, and the view was spectacular. We thought the food was very good, but it lacked that certain "wow" factor you might expect given the prices. We had a far more delicious meal the next night at a local restaurant in the nearby town of Kawaihe (and for half the price).
