Kona Tiki Hotel

Fodor's Review:

The best thing about this three-story walk-up budget hotel, about a mile south of Kailua-Kona, is that all the units have lanai right next to the ocean. The rooms are modest but pleasantly decorated. You can sunbathe by the seaside pool, where a complimentary Continental breakfast is served. Some would call this place old-fashioned; others would say it's local, has a certain kitschy charm, and is the best deal in town, with glorious sunsets no different from those at the resorts. Pros: very low price, ocean-front lanai and pool, convenient location. Cons: older hotel in need of update, no beach, doesn't accept credit cards.

  • Hotel Details: 15 rooms
  • In-room: no phone, refrigerator, no TV.
  • In-hotel: pool.
  • Credit Cards: No credit cards
