Kenichi Pacific

Kenichi Pacific Review

With its black-lacquer tables and lipstick-red banquettes, Kenichi provides one of the few upscale choices in town. Its location at Keauhou Shopping Center might feel like a secret, but visitors should seek it out. This is where residents go when they feel like splurging on top-notch sushi. It's a little on the pricey side, but you'll leave feeling satisfied. The signature rolls are inventive and tasty, especially the always-popular Dynamite Shrimp. If you're looking to save a buck or two, go early for happy hour (4:30 to 6:30 pm daily) when all sushi rolls are half price, or hang out in the cocktail bar where menu items average $6.

Don't let the location (Shopping Center Strip Mall) fool you--this restaurant is not your ordinary restaurant. We tried almost every appetizer and entree, and many of the sushi selections. The lamb, filet mignon, tempura were fantastic, and the island selections such as Ahi, Opah, and Ono were even better. Plating is creative and the service and atmosphere match the food. Worth a visit!

Wonderful Japanese fusion cuisine. The bamboo wrapped salmon and duck confit are fabulous. Portions are small, so use that fact to sample an appetizer and one of their great sushi rolls (we loved their lobster roll).
Their desserts were the best we had on the island and beautifully presented--like a work of art.
The location in a strip mall is very unlikely and you have to really look to find it even within the shopping center.
    Service is professional and unobtrusive.
They DO accept credit cards now! We paid with one.
