Fodor's Expert Review Xanadu Gallery San Francisco
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
The spectacular international art and antiquities displayed here include Latin American folk art and masks, sculptures, woven baskets, tapestries, and textiles from Africa, Oceania, and Indonesia. Museum-quality pieces such as a gilt bronze figure of a lama (Tibetan Buddhist holy man) can go for nearly $100,000, but beautiful books on subjects such as Tibetan art make more-affordable souvenirs. The shop is worth a visit to see its Frank Lloyd Wright–designed space, whose spiral ramp recalls New York City's Guggenheim Museum.
