The menu at Tarla challenges the Napa Valley's notoriously Italo-centric diners to venture deeper into the Mediterranean. You can build a meal by combining such traditional mezes (tapas) as stuffed grape leaves with fresh tzatziki (a thick yogurt sauce with cucumber, dill, and mint) and spanakopita (phyllo dough stuffed with spinach and feta cheese) with more contemporary, seasonally offered creations—perhaps a crab, spinach, and hearts of palm fondue. The entrées include
updates of moussaka and other Mediterranean mainstays, along with fancifully modern items such as beef short ribs braised with a pomegranate-wine sauce and accompanying them with a corn-and-white-truffle risotto. A sister restaurant, Napkins Bar + Grill, at Main and 2nd streets, serves high-style comfort food and stays open late.
