SLS Hotel Beverly Hills

465 S. La Cienega Blvd., Beverly Hills, California 90048, United States

Paul Feinstein

An ultra-stylish hotel on the eastern end of Beverly Hills, the SLS boasts Philippe Starck designs with a whimsical sensibility. Upon entering the hotel, guests are treated to a sensory shattering experience as they move between high-end bars, unique restaurants, funky retail space, and sumptuous sweets. This see-and-be seen hotel provides a luxury experience that’s wholly original and will keep guests' heads turning throughout their stay.

room

297 Philippe Starck-designed rooms feature mid-century modern furnishings with classical touches. The rooms are all equipped with iPod docking stations and some of the suites come with either step-out balconies or private terraces.

bathroom

Custom, free-standing tubs are typical for most rooms and rainforest showerheads make you happy the drought has ended. Bath products are by Ciel, which is also the signature spa of the hotel.

lobby

The hotel is divided into two buildings. Where guests check in is a minimal space and houses the main hotel restaurant Tres by José Andrés. The other building, is a combination of mismatched furniture, a “shop without walls” that looks as much museum as store, a patisserie, and bar/lounge, in addition to Bazaar by José Andrés.

pool

Altitude Pool & Lounge is what you would picture a Beverly Hills hotel pool to look like in an episode of Entourage . Cabanas line the pool deck and are available to rent for non-guests on specific weekend days (contact the hotel for more info). The DJ pool parties bring in the good-looking LA crowd--and probably expect to see models in bikinis and high heels and dudes with six pack abs sharing bottle service.

YOU SHOULD KNOW If episodes of Entourage annoy you, you might not enjoy being at this pool.

spa

Ciel Spa uses Biologique products and is one of the few locations in LA that specializes in treatments from post-plastic surgery and addiction recovery to massages, facials, and even IV therapy. This all-in-one spot is truly one of the best spas in town.

gym

The well-appointed fitness center comes complete with Technogym equipment, cardio machines, free-weights, and is open 24-hours a day. The hotel also provides an on-site trainer by request and offers guests yoga mats, Pilates balls and headphones.

dining

One of the most unique dining experiences you’ll ever have can be found at the Bazaar by José Andrés. The original purveyor of molecular gastronomy, the food ranges from air-bread Philly Cheesesteaks to dishes smoking with liquid nitrogen. Other food options include Tres by José Andrés for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea or Saam with its 22-course tasting menu.

Don’t miss out on the hotel’s incredible patisserie next to the main bar. Here you’ll find hand-crafted one-of-a-kind chocolates, macarons and pastries made daily.

drinking

The main bar inside the hotel blends into the surroundings with eclectic furniture and long communal tables set up for mingling. Drinks aren’t cheap–expect to pay in the $15-$20 range for basic options. The uber-stylish surroundings are usually filled with really attractive people who you look at and are like, "Those people definitely live in Los Angeles."

Get drunk and see the future: there’s a Tarot Card reader by the bar on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

LOCATION

Getting Around

There isn’t any metro access in the area, but there are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Hailing a taxi or getting an Uber is very easy around here and you’re close to major shopping streets, incredible restaurants, and chic bars. The hotel offers complimentary car service within two miles.

Restaurants

Although there’s not much need to venture beyond the hotel’s amazing food options, there are still plenty of great restaurants in the immediate vicinity. For a high-end Korean barbecue experience, check out Genwa (1-minute walk) across the street. For great sushi, you can walk a block south and try Matsuhisa (3-minute walk), which is famed chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s flagship LA restaurant.

Bars

Henry’s (5-minute drive) is a swanky nightclub and bar that you may want to ask the hotel concierge to get you access. E.P. & L.P. (8-minute drive) is a trendy restaurant with a great rooftop bar filled with Hollywood starlets and people who follow them around.

WHY WE LIKE IT

If you’re looking for a luxury experience with unique quirks at every corner, then this is the hotel for you. The food is one-of-a-kind, the service is second to none, the style is top of the line, and everyone there looks like they paid one million dollars to look like they do (because they probably did). There is a small level of pretension (but not from the staff) and the pool can be a little intimidating if you’re not an Instagram model. And although the hotel isn’t in the busy shopping streets of Beverly Hills, one could argue the location is better because of the easy access to shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.
