Fodor's Review

Imagine dropping into Alice in Wonderland's rabbit hole: this is what design maestro Philippe Starck's sleek, textured, and tchotchke-filled SLS lobby feels like. The edgy ambience continues in the Tres Lounge, which encourages socializing with its fireplaces, hidden nooks, and a communal table for cocktails and dining. Visual stimulation ranges from the succulents garden in oversize pots and white leather couches out front to the elevators backed with oversize portraits. Rooms have crisp, fine linens, and high-tech sound and video systems built into the mirrors. There's atmosphere, photo-ready spots (the rooftop pool is a scene), and dining masterminded by celebrated Spanish chef José Andrés. Amenities abound: the gym equipment is stellar, each room has a fully stocked bar, and the Ciel spa feels like a dreamy lounge.
