Hartland is best known for having the longest covered bridge in the world, still carrying traffic across the wide St. John River. A sleepy little town for much of the year, it is deluged with bus-loads of camera-toting tourists in summer. You can also visit the Covered Bridge Potato Chip company, just across the highway, for a tour and tasting of the still warm chips straight off the production line.
