By day an open patio bar selling good burgers (including crocodile and ostrich) and fries and by night a live music hot spot, La Rosa Chueca is a winner. Most exciting for Latin lovers is a dance band playing son, cha-cha, meringue, and salsa; other nights see Latin jazz or other mellow tunes. There's music Tuesday through Saturday in high season, Thursday and Saturday during the sleepy summer months. Candles on the tables and dim overhead lights throw the shadows of lacy palms and looming fig trees onto deep red walls to create a Caribbean ambience that matches the tropical tunes. They have a kids' menu; during the slow rainy season they offer specials (such as Monday drink specials or "kids eat free" days) to drum up business.
