Riviera Maya Travel Guide

Puerto Aventuras

Puerto Aventuras is the most Americanized of all the Riviera Maya's resorts, a 900-acre gated community and golf course more reminiscent of coastal Florida than Mexico. This has its advantages if you want to speak English exclusively and have the option to eat American food. The main beach in front of the Omni hotel is glorious, but the town itself is not particularly scenic. Its orientation

around a small marina makes it very manageable and walkable, a place where you can let older kids go off by themselves for the afternoon. The main marina is closed off to boat traffic and is instead home to Dolphin Discovery's dolphins and sea lions, which are fun to watch from the waterside restaurants and benches. The main visitor center is just before the town center, on the main road on the right as you enter Puerto Aventuras.
