Fodor's Review

Here's a wonderful budget option in a handsome wooden hotel with a terrific Spanish restaurant on the creek bank across a short pedestrian bridge from the park entrance. Each of the four hardwood-finished guest rooms is big enough to sleep a small army and has two double beds. Owner Andrés de Alcalá barbecues meat and fresh fish on an open-air grill and also cooks paella and other Spanish specialties. Stop by for dinner ($$), even if you're not staying here, but order

the paella by 2 pm. Caimans come to the creek bank in search of snacks, and the monkeys and parrots who live in the national park are just yards away, as is the lively center of Cahuita. You'll get a small discount if you pay in cash.

and then there was THOMAS!!!

Kelly Creek is beautiful. It sits by the creek and the ocean is a hop and a skip away.... The ocean is beautiful and the water temperature just right! Unfortunately, the beach is rather narrow. Being next to the national park, you awake by the sounds of the howling monkeys! What a treat! WARNING - do not expect a resort! This is a beautiful wooden cabin - the best in town, and the location is definitely unbeatable. The hosts are relaxed and

welcoming.... The rooms are basic with comfortable beds, mosquito nets, towels, ceiling fans, daily maid service and windows on two sides of the rooms, creating cross ventilation. This hotel only has four rooms so be sure to book ahead. Cahuita is a sleepy little town, with gravel roads&. But it definitely deserves a visit! The food in this town is fantastic&especially at Kellys creek& And then there is Thomas! He is a beautiful little parrot that makes breakfast even more memorable& the creek and the ocean in full view!
