Fodor's Expert Review Queens Cave Cappadocia
Dere Sok. 24–26, Ortahisar, Nevsehir, Turkey
Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.
Amidst a lush garden and flower-accented patio near the bottom of one of Ortahisar’s valleys, Queens Cave has an intimate, off-the-beaten path atmosphere. Designed by the owner and his architect wife, the mainly cave rooms have colorful ikat linens, wooden furnishings, and rustic-chic touches—like headboards made of pieces of stone, tiles, and distressed wood. Bathrooms are modern and typically have both deep tubs and showers. Between the excellent breakfast, tasty home-cooked meals provided on demand (high season only), and the beautiful valley vistas, you might not want to go home.
PROS
- secluded, relaxing setting
- stylish rooms
- great food
CONS
- fairly isolated and reached on rough, unpaved roads
- service occasionally too laid-back
- limited privacy between some rooms and bathrooms
