Getting Here and Around

You have three choices to reach the Aletsch villages and the UNESCO viewpoints near the glacier. The cable car from Fiesch takes you to either the village of Fiescheralp (27 SF round-trip) or directly up to Eggishorn, the highest viewpoint on the glacier's edge (9,413 feet; 42.80 SF round-trip). The village of Bettmeralp is reached via cable car from the Betten train station (19.60 SF round-trip); from there, walk about 15 minutes to the gondola up to Bettmerhorn (8,684 feet; 24 SF round-trip). Arrive at Riederalp by a giant gondola that lifts passengers from the village of Mörel; the 16-minute ride covers nearly 6,500 feet and costs 19.60 SF round-trip. Take another gondola to reach the Moosfluh viewpoint (7,654 feet; 20 SF round-trip). The Riederalp Bahnen, where the cable car starts, is across the street from the Mörel train station, a stop on the Matterhorn Gotthard line.
