Therme Vals Review
Designed by award-winning Swiss architect Peter Zumthor, the Therme Vals is built from local Valser gneiss stone into the side of a mountain in a remote Graubünden valley. Focusing on the serene, primal experience of bathing, the therapies and treatments offered are designed to relieve tension and pamper; think masks, exfoliation, baths, wraps, and massages. Seven different pools are available ranging in temperature, including an exclusive sound bath resonance room linking the rejuvenating powers of water and sound. The special water shiatsu massage combines the positive elements of water therapy with the advantageous properties of shiatsu; while floating weightlessly in warm water, your body will experience reflexive lengthening and stretching, inducing deep relaxation. Double rooms in the on-site hotel are reasonably priced (and convenient given the far-off location), but note that they cost the same as a two-hour massage.
