Amore e Fantasía

Amore e Fantasía Review

Without knowing better, you might mistake this for an antiques-and-housewares shop rather than a restaurant, what with the Buddha statues, gilt mirrors, Moorish lights, and Pompeii-themed frieze. It was one of the first restaurants to open in the port, back in the 1980s, and the menu is vast, with traditional and deliciously prepared Italian choices like risotto al funghi porcini (with porcini mushrooms), more sophisticated dishes including lasagne with spicy chicken, and a well-priced daily lunch menu (€15). Opt for the superbly moist dark-chocolate soufflé served with vanilla ice cream if it's available. One of the original partners is from Naples, a fact reflected in the superb crisp pizzas, prepared in a traditional wood-burning oven. The only major negative here are the inflated prices of drinks, especially mineral water—ask for a jug of agua del grifo (tap water) instead.
