Fodor's Review

Behind this traditional upper-Rambla facade lies a surprisingly whimsical interior with marble floors and artwork by well-known Barcelona artist Perico Pastor on the columns and the ceiling. Rooms are decorated in soothing pastels, with coordinated classic furniture, good lighting, and hardwood floors. Room 601, with a private balcony overlooking La Rambla, is perhaps the best in the house. Guests run the gamut from hip honeymooners to discerning retirees. The deck-terrace

of the restaurant, open Mar.–Oct., is an unexpected oasis of greenery.

Excellent Location

I booked this hotel through The first room we were given was small, dark and stank of smoke. It also had single beds together in the middle of the room with nowhere to move them to - not what you want when you have requested a twin non-smoking room. However, on returning to reception to ask for a non-smoking room with a view, I was shown a larger room with a great view over the Ramblas. The bathroom was great, the room was clean and

the location is brilliant. I am a light sleeper but the windows were well soundproofed and had blackout curtains. Breakfast wasn't included but there are plenty of places to choose from, including one right next door. The hotel staff were helpful, the location is excellent and I would stay there again. However, on checking in I would ask for a non-smoking room at the front of the hotel.

Rabmle Right By the Rivoli Ramblas

Despite the attractive price, $96 Euro / night for a double room with terrace and including breakfast, this hotel leaves much to be desired. Lock on my room, #706, was broken. Came back to room to find it ajar because staff hadn't properly closed it. The lock on door to the terrace also did not work well. It could be closed but could have easily been busted open, not at all secure. I complained and asked for room to be changed. Staff was polite but

utterly unconcerned. Would have checked out but did not have high hopes of finding another room, similarly priced in town at high season. Since it was quite easy to climb over from neighboring terraces I had to sleep with one eye open and pray my fellow hotel guests were not felons. Also chambermaids "forgot" to leave towels in room one day. They also stopped leaving 2 sets of towels in the room because I was only 1 person. There were ants on bathroom floor, and found one on bed. One evening when it was chilly I reached into armoire to pull down blanket and found on top clothes that had been left there by a previous guest. I WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

Great Location

We enjoyed our reasonably pleasant room overlooking Ramblas, perfect for exploring. Considering location and standards here we thought price was quite fair, staff very helpful and if you are touring by car they even have parking !!

Great Hotel in the Middle of All the Action

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is great, right in the middle of everything. We walked everywhere!! Also, a great value -- we paid 120 euros a night for a great room with a balcony. The only problem with the room was that the bed was simply two twins pushed together, complete with separate sheets and blankets. Kind of put a damper on romance. Otherwise, the room was great, large with high ceilings and comfy furniture. Don't get

a room facing Ramblas if you are a light sleeper because it can get noisy.
