Bus Travel

Granada's main bus station is at Carretera de Jaén, 3 km (2 miles) northwest of the center of town beyond the end of Avenida de Madrid. Most buses operate from here, except for buses to nearby destinations such as Fuentevaqueros, Viznar, and some buses to Sierra Nevada, which leave from the city center's Plaza del Triunfo near the RENFE station. Luggage lockers (la consigna) are available at the main bus and train stations, and you can also leave your luggage at City Locker (Placeta de las Descalzas 3) and Lock & Be Free (Calle Salamanca 13).

Autocares Bonal operates buses between Granada and the Sierra Nevada. ALSA buses run to and from Las Alpujarras (3 times daily), Córdoba (17 times daily), Seville (9 times daily), Málaga (20 times daily), and Jaén, Baeza, Úbeda, Cazorla, Almería, Almuñécar, and Nerja (several times daily).

In Granada, airport buses (€3) run between the center of town and the airport, leaving roughly every hour 7 am–8:45 pm from the Palacio de Congresos and making a few other stops along the way to the airport. Times are listed at the bus stop.

Granada has an extensive public bus network within the city. You can buy 5-, 10-, and 20-trip discount passes on the buses and at newsstands. The single-trip fare is €1.50. Granada Cards include bus trips plus guaranteed tickets for the Alhambra and other main monuments (without having to wait in lines). The card costs from €36.50, saving at least a third on regular prices. You can purchase the cards at the municipal tourist office, but it’s best to buy them online via (www.granadatur.com/granada-card) in advance of your visit; you can download them on your cell phone, or print at home or the tourist office.

Train Travel

There are regular trains from Seville and Almería, but service from Málaga and Córdoba is less convenient, necessitating a change at Bobadilla. A new AVE high-speed fast track entered operation in mid-2019; it reduced journey times considerably (50 minutes to Málaga and 90 minutes to Seville). There are a couple of daily trains from Madrid, Valencia, and Barcelona.
