This is Spain's most expensive and popular parador, and it's right in the Alhambra precinct. The building, a former Franciscan monastery built in the 15th century by the Catholic Monarchs after they captured Granada, is soul-stirringly gorgeous. If possible, go for a room in the old section where there are beautiful antiques, woven curtains, and bedspreads. Rooms in the newer wing are also charming but simple. Pros: Location, decor, garden restaurant. Cons: No views of Granada or the Albayzín, removed from city life.
