Tolbooth

Built in 1705, the Tolbooth has been many things: courthouse, jail, meeting place. At one time the city's money was kept here. Today it serves as an entertainment venue, an art gallery, and a 200-seat theater for concerts and performances of all kinds. The bar is open for performances. It has retained its traditional Scottish steeple and gilded weathercock, and a newer tower lets you survey the surrounding country.
