First Hotel Marin Review

On the harborside near Bryggen stands an elegant brick building that once housed one of Bergen's largest print shops; now it's a business hotel within walking distance of the city's buses, ferries, and trains. Every room has a bathtub and is decorated in yellows and blues, with oak furniture and hardwood floors. Some rooms feature original artwork from local artists. The penthouse suites have magnificent views of Bergen.

    The dirtiest hotel in norway ( august 2009 )

    Despite I book one of the best rooms in the hotel, I knew nothing great could be expected from the rooms as information on the web was unclear and confusing. However I didn't expect a place where the words clean and tidy where absolutely unkwown, and service was non existant. It's OK you help yourself for many things ( put and take the luggage in the luggage room by your own, help yourself to the room or any other place in the hotel, etc. ) but there is a minimum service that should be provided and this hotel - if you can call it so ( to me it's more like a second class pension ) is very far from it. They didn't vacuumed the room any single time in 4 nghts, the corridors were full of hairs everywhere and the dirtiness was unbearable, the ceilings were like those of and old office, and nothing really worked as it should. This hotel does not deserve any credit and I'm not exaggerating at all. It's as dirty as a pigsty. Fortunately the world is full of non exigent tourist travelling in packages tours and the First Marin can be an acceptable option as it's in a perfect location in the most privileged place of Bryggen.
