In one of the most unique settings in town—a former chapel, in the round—a Chez Panisse–trained chef whips up frequently changing menus with local ingredients and a Mediterranean flair. If you don't like chatting with your neighbor, this may not be your place, since most seats are at long communal tables. But the three-course menus for €40 are great value and make it worth venturing to Amsterdam's far southern reaches (the No. 5 tram stops a block away); they always feature a choice of meat or fish, and you can add a housemade pasta "in-between" course for €6 more. In the summer, don't miss their gorgeous terrace, with a perfect view of the (believe it or not) outdoor open kitchen.
