The Castello Aragonese, on its own island, is the unrivaled location for this unique hotel with a peaceful ambience and simple but comfortable rooms overlooking the Mediterranean. The superb restaurant on the spectacular terrace (also open to nonguests) provides sophisticated adaptations of local island cuisine, using much produce from the castle's vegetable garden. The hotel is hugely popular, so book way in advance.
Albergo L'Approdo
$$ | Via Eddomade 29, Casamicciola Terme, 80074, Italy
A short walk from Casamicciola's port, spas, and town center, this small hotel has a fine array of facilities and guest rooms with private terraces. Prepare to be pampered with the beauty treatments on offer, including ayurvedic massage and reflexology. An elevator whisks those who prefer the beach down to sea level, but most stick by the pool.
Caesar Augustus
$$$$ | Via G. Orlandi 4, Anacapri, 80071, Italy
Fodor's Choice
A favorite of the Hollywood set, this landmark villa hotel is a Caprese paradise thanks to its breathtaking perch atop a cliff; its grand gardens, terraces, and pool; and its charming, casual-chic rooms with their plump chairs and fragrant bouquets. You won't give a second's thought to decor, however, once you catch sight of the fabled stone terrace and its panorama view of the Bay of Naples from all rooms or the infinity pool—a jaw-dropping extravaganza nearly levitating 1,000 feet over the sea. The owner is a keen gardener and delights in showing guests his English roses and 2-acre vegetable plot. Blissfully distant from Capri Town's crowds, the poolside "zero-mile" restaurant, with ingredients grown in the gardens, is open to nonguests, as are the hotel's lovely summer classical and jazz concerts.

Capri Palace Jumeirah
$$$$ | Via Capodimonte 14, Anacapri, 80071, Italy
Fodor's Choice
This Anacapri icon with unique design, spa, exquisite food, and luxurious retreat atmosphere throughout has amassed a noted art collection and even launched a fashion and home line and hosted A-list cultural events. Accommodations are individually designed; some pay tribute to fashion inspirations, from Monroe and Callas, others honor famous artists, and still others may have private pools or gardens. The on-site Capri Beauty Farm medi-spa is overseen by a doctor and offers both one-off treatments and intensive, multiday programs targeting wellness, diet, posture, leg health, and more. Along with a hopping bar and a casual bistro, the dining options include the two-Michelin-star L'Olivo, and—at the chic Beach Club—the one-Michelin-star Il Riccio, overlooking the sea.
Capri Tiberio Palace
$$$$ | Via Croce 11–15, Capri, 80073, Italy
Fodor's Choice
Offering guests comfort, style, luxury, and sigh-inducing views since the 19th century, this hotel is a short walk from the piazzetta—near the action, but not quite in the thick of it. All 17 suites have large private terraces, but the clincher is the 1950s Hollywood–inspired Bellevue Suite, with its 360-degree-view rooftop terrace and plunge pool. Three salt-filled golden bowls in the lobby extend a traditional island welcome, and elsewhere Regency-style decor combines local color with international chic. The Terrazza Tiberio restaurant, the only place south of Rome with kosher cuisine on its menu, is a local-meets-international gourmet experience, and the white grand piano in the Jacky Bar evokes times past. There's a renowned spa with sensory showers and adjoining gym, or you can simply relax, enjoying the view, drink in hand, immersed in the indoor-outdoor swimming pool.
J. K. Place
$$$$ | Via Provinciale Marina Grande 225, Capri, 80073, Italy
Fodor's Choice
Occupying an 1876 villa above Marina Grande harbor, southern Italy's most glamorous hotel makes other Capri accommodations seem dull. Public spaces have nautical blue walls and white Corinthian columns—set off by vintage photographs, 19th-century bronzes, and white-linen wing armchairs—but guest rooms have a modern Hamptons-meets-Mediterranean vibe, with billowing white drapes, four-poster beds, and 1940s French commodes. Outside, a regal stone sphinx presides over teak-lined bay-side terraces; across a small lawn, flowering fruit trees shade the gargantuan pool. Nonguests can use the spa and gym services.
La Casa sul Mare
$$ | Via Salita Castello 13, Procida, 80079, Italy
One of Procida's best boutique hotels is a great place to enjoy the sunshine, thanks to individually designed rooms, complete with antiques, traditional ceramics, and private terraces. Breakfast is served in the garden, and, in the summer months, a shuttle bus will take guests to any beach on the island.
La Tosca
$$ | Via Birago 5, Capri, 80073, Italy
Up a tiny side street above the Certosa, this simple, quiet hotel offers unassuming vibes, terrace views, and reasonable rates. As a bonus, the ebullient owner Ettore, who spends the winter in Connecticut, is generous with island advice and restaurant recommendations. Two self-catering apartments are available to rent year-round.
Mezzatorre Resort & Spa
$$$$ | Via Mezzatorre 23, Forio, 80075, Italy
Fodor's Choice
Far from the madding, sunburned crowds—in a sleekly renovated former fortress on Punta Cornacchia above the Bay of San Montano—this luxurious getaway tempts its privileged guests to stay put and relax, with a glamorous heated pool overlooking a storybook cove, fine restaurants, spa treatments, and hundreds of pretty pine and pomegranate trees. Inside, everything is white-on-white, accented with antiques and ancestral portraits. Most guest rooms are in the 16th-century Saracen tower. The restaurants—La Torre and the more laidback, alfresco La Baia—are open to nonguests by reservation.
Punta Tragara
$$$$ | Via Tragara 57, Capri, 80073, Italy
Fodor's Choice
Designed by Le Corbusier, this former private villa was the site of a secret wartime meeting between Churchill and Eisenhower; today, it's one of Capri's most beautiful hotels, with a breathtaking location on Punta Tragara; public areas adorned with baronial fireplaces, gilded antiques, and travertine marble; and guest rooms that are simultaneously sumptuous and cozy-casual. The dreamy garden is a showstopper, with two pools (one jet-powered) beside the idyllic arbor-covered restaurant, Monzù.
Quisisana
$$$$ | Via Camerelle 2, Capri, 80073, Italy
Some say Capri has three villages: Capri Town, Anacapri, and this landmark hotel, which looms large in island mythology, attracts utterly devoted guests, and has an enormous lobby and theater-cum-convention center that are 1930s jewels designed by noted modernist Gio Ponti. The "Quisi" also scores points for its restaurants, see-and-be-seen bars (plug into Capri's network of rich and famous at the Krug Lounge), and convenient location a short walk from the Piazzetta. The clientele is so loyal that even though this is Capri's biggest hotel, it's really hard to get a reservation in high season.
Villa Sarah
$$$ | Via Tiberio 3/a, Capri, 80073, Italy
This yellow, two-story, Mediterranean-style hostelry—complete with Capri's signature round windows and a setting amid lovely gardens in a pleasant residential district—has lots of Caprese spirit and simple but homey and brightly accented rooms that will make you feel like a guest in a private villa. The restful nights do come at a price: it's a 15-minute walk down to the action of the piazzetta.
