Market Yard Centre

Fodor's Review

Carrick's architectural gem, the Market Yard Centre is in the heart of the town; known in 1839 as the Shambles it is now home to a popular weekly farmers' market (Thursday 10–2:30) where you can buy everything from freshly picked vegetables and French breads to succulent cuts of organic meats. The local history center is in unit 5 on the first floor (Wednesday–Saturday 11–4), and is worth a visit to see how Carrick looked in bygone days and to browse an excellent local heritage reference library.
