If you're tired of the usual views and culinary suspects found along the harborfront, stroll past its row of cafés, bars, and tavernas to Elia for a nice change in ambience and style. The chef here is Swedish, and his menu offers a refreshingly eclectic take on Greek cuisine. Prawns sauteéd in ouzo; chicken stuffed with spinach, feta, and topped with a tarragon sauce; and the pork cooked with Samos wine all tempt with their engaging flavors. Results are not always spectacular but the menu keeps evolving and improving. As one would expect, the wine list is full of sumptuous Samian wines as well as a few of the best from the rest of Greece.
