Fodor's Expert Review France Montgolfière
The blue-and-purple patchwork of the Luberon's famous lavender fields have never been seen to better effect than while floating freely in a ballon at 1,500 feet in the air. You can take in the whole vista of mountains, perched villages, and sprawling lavender fields on an hour-long flight at either dawn or dusk, when air currents are calm. The company picks you up in the village, gives you breakfast (or a snack), takes you up for an hour flight, and brings you to home base. After the balloon is packed away, your courage will be honored with a flûte de champagne and the traditional "toast des aéronautes."
