Why We Like It

With buckets of style, sophistication and the kind of accommodating service found in top hotels, you'll be hard pressed to find a better lodging for the price.

Fodor's Expert Review

This handsome four-star newcomer in Paris's tony Ternes neighborhood, a 10-minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe, offers enough polished poise to merit a much heftier price tag. Housed in a swank Art-Deco-style townhouse, both the service and amenities evoke a more gracious era.

Room

Elegantly minimal, and ample by Paris standards, rooms are done up in suave color schemes that harmonize with the natural materials used—wool, wood, marble, gold leaf. Original artworks and Deco-style lighting enhance the mood, and tea and coffee-making facilities are a nice extra.

Tip Top-floor rooms benefit from Arc de Triomphe or Eiffel Tower views, well worth the 30-60 euro upgrade.

Bathroom

Classic tiled baths are sleek and well laid out, with up-to-the-minute fixtures, walk-in rain showers and baths in higher category rooms. Robes, slippers and Nuxe products provide extra pampering.

Lobby

Under the natural light of the atrium ceiling, the spacious and sophisticated lobby sports lustrous tiled flooring and gold-leaf accents with plush lounge chairs that invite lingering with a book from the library. In warm weather a café table on the garden terrace luxuriantly planted with a vegetal wall is the place to be.

Spa

A small sauna and steam room are free for guests, and the serene treatment room is perfect for a massage.

You Should Know Be sure to book at the front desk ahead of time for a massage, as there is only one treatment room.

Gym

The compact fitness room offers the basic machines for a pre-sauna workout.

Dining

The buffet breakfast, served in the sleek downstairs breakfast room, is a copious affair, with high-quality pastries, cheese, charcuterie, yogurt, several breads, fruit, and much more.

Tip The Pâtisserie des Rêves, a few minutes away at 19 Rue Poncelet, is one of Paris's dreamier pastry shops, where you can grab a breakfast pastry or a perfect croissant to enjoy on a bench at the nearby Parc Monceau.

Drinking

Relax in front of the "fireplace" with a glass of wine from the chic bar or a cocktail happily prepared from the extensive bar menu. There's also a good selection of spirits and bar snacks that could easily substitute for dinner.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Two minutes from the Terne metro station and a 10-minute walk to Étoile (at the Arc de Triomphe) a major metro and RER hub. This elegant residential neighborhood may not be in thick of the action, but it's an easy walk to the Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe and an excellent opportunity to discover a typically Parisian neighborhood, with a top-notch market street nearby and one of Paris's prettiest parks. On the park's periphery you'll find two of the city's little gem museums, the Musée Cernuschi for Asian art and the beautiful Musée Nissim de Camondo, a stunning mansion (with a heartbreaking story) bequeathed to the city by an avid patron of the arts. A little farther afield, the Musée Jacquemart-Andre, also the mansion of prominent art collectors, is famous for its Italian art collection, old-master exhibitions and utterly charming café.

Restaurants

Part of the Alain Ducasse empire, Rech (5-minute walk) is the chef's love letter to all things from the sea, set in a classic 1920's brasserie redecorated in pristine white. Though it's not one of his high-end extravagances, it's still on the pricey side. L'Escient's market-fresh cuisine gives classic French bistro fare a gastronomic touch. An imaginative menu and decent prices make this a good choice in the neighborhood.

Bars

For chic nightlife and bars, head down to Drugstore Publicis, on the Champs-Elysées, where you can people watch over a drink on the sidewalk terrace (or an excellent meal from a menu designed by 3-star chef Eric Frechon). This is also the perfect area for a splurge at a hotel bar, like superchic Les Heures at the Prince des Galles or the bar at the Georges V. Around busy Place des Ternes you'll also find plenty of cafés for an apéro or a nightcap.
