Fodor's Expert Review

What’s not to like about this stylish hotel set on a leafy street in a quiet residential neighborhood well off the beaten path. A sleek Scandinavian design with lively splashes of color, bright comfortable rooms, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere make this 19-room hotel one of Paris’s best-kept secrets.

Room

Though on the smaller side, each room’s uncluttered design, sizeable windows, and lustrous wood floors give them an airy feel. Contemporary design furnishings and splashy murals add a cheerful flourish to already bright rooms. You can reach your room, on one of four floors, via the stairs or a small elevator.

Tip If you’d like more space, consider upgrading to a suite. Two top-floor suites have their own private terraces with greenery and great views over this typically Parisian neighborhood. Well worth the extra euros in warmer weather.

Bathroom

Modern bathrooms feature colorful tiles and contemporary fixtures, including vessel sinks and ample walk-in rain showers that make up for the lack of a bathtub.

Lobby

The bright lobby doubles as a café, lounge and library, where you can relax in a comfy chair with a book, magazine, newspaper or the in-house computer. In warm weather, enjoy a drink on the outdoor terrace at the hotel entrance or on the common 4th-floor terrace. Complimentary tea and coffee are available all day, as well as reasonably priced wine and Champagne in the evening.

Tip The friendly staff is a big plus here. Always there to give you tips on transport, dining and all the nearby not-to-miss places.

Dining

A full continental breakfast (€12), including fresh croissants and breads, yogurt, fruit, cheese, charcuterie and fresh-squeezed juices, is available from 7 – 10:30 am.

You Should Know Rooms are equipped with Nespresso machines but do not have fridges or minibars.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel is just minutes from the Alésia metro stop, where you can hop on line no.4, direct to Notre Dame Cathedral, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Saint-Sulpice Cathedral and the newly renovated Les Halles shopping center. Two stops away, at the Denfert Rochereau metro stop, you can get line no.6 to east or west Paris and RER B to Charles de Gaulle and Roissy airports.

This is an out-of-the-way neighborhood, but close to public transport and within an easy walk of many sites worth seeing, starting with the Montparnasse cemetery, where many famous Parisians are laid to rest (including Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir), the Catacombs, and the Fondation Cartier for contemporary art. Whatever you do don't miss the rue Daguerre market street, it's one of the best in Paris and only a 10-minute walk away.

Restaurants

Join the locals at Les Petits Plats, a circa 1910 bistro complete with mirrors, tiled floors, long bar, and all the usual classic codes that let you know you're in for a fine evening of classic French dining and wine (10-minute walk). Or for something a bit more elegant, Le Jeroboam is slightly farther afield but worth the walk for well-priced gastronomic French dining in a laid back atmosphere (12-minute walk).

Bars

This casual residential neighborhood excels in more casual bars rather than chic watering holes. The many nearby cafés are convivial spots for a glass of wine with the locals, and you're always welcome to sit at the bar at Les Petits Plats.
