Bus

National Express and Megabus have numerous daily departures from London's Victoria Coach Station to major cities in Yorkshire. Average travel times are five hours to Leeds, six hours to York, and nine hours to Scarborough. Once you're in the region, local bus companies take over the routes. There are Metro buses from Leeds and Bradford into the more remote parts of the Yorkshire Dales. Other companies are Harrogate Bus Company for services to Ripon, Harrogate, and Leeds; the Keighley Bus Company to Haworth; Coastliner for Castle Howard, Scarborough, Whitby, and Malton; the express Cityzap bus between Leeds and York; Arriva for Whitby, Scarborough, and Middlesbrough; and the volunteer-run DalesBus for Hawes and other destinations, mainly on Sunday and holiday Mondays May–September. In York the main local bus operator is Transdev. Traveline has route information.
