St. Eustatius Hotel Reviews
Renting an apartment is an alternative to staying in a hotel. Although Statia has only a handful of them, several are available for $60 or less per night, but don't expect much beyond cable TV, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. Check with the tourist office for options.
Golden Era Hotel. On the waterfront across the street from the Old Gin House, this property has a funky, retro-1960s feel. Only half the rooms have a view, but all have tile floors, little terraces, and new furniture. The staff is friendly, and its restaurant has tasty creole food. There is a gift shop—actually a cabinet with a couple of watches, some perfume, and a few T-shirts. Dive package specials are available. Pros: friendly staff; right on the waterfront; dive shop is next door; breakfast included. Cons: no-frills rooms are dark. Bay Rd., Lower Town, Oranjestad. 599/318-2545. 19 rooms, 1 suite. In-hotel: restaurant, bar, pool. Breakfast.
