Statia has only five hotels with 20 rooms or fewer—and except for Statia Lodge all within Oranjestad (within walking distance of everything else in town)—and a handful bed-and-breakfasts. Nothing on the island could be described as luxurious. Sometimes the decor, like the redecorated 55-gallon drums-turned-TV-stands at King's Well Resort, is quite original.
