Surfing is the big thing along the Taranaki coast, but the beaches and coastal walkways also draw swimmers and beachcombers. Fishing, be it surfcasting from the shore, trailing a line from a boat, or netting the delicacy whitebait at stream mouths during the season, is also popular.
