Fodor's Review

Don't be put off by the restaurant's odd name and the wide array of contraceptives for sale. This popular place raises funds for the Population & Community Development Association, Thailand's family-planning program. The food is geared to foreign tastes but is competently prepared; standouts include the deep-fried chicken wrapped in pandanus leaves, the fried fish with mango sauce, and the crispy duck salad. The eatery is comfortable and funky, with fairy lights giving

the place a warm glow.

A Great Night Out

Clean, value for money, friendly service, good food- perhaps not as spicy as the real thai version, but neverheless tasty and in a garden setting with thousands of fairy lights the restaurant makes for a great night out for casual dining. Prices are fair for the area, perhaps marked up a little to catch the tourist dollar but you won't walk out feeling you have paid too much for too little. Beer is not marked up too much although expect to pay a premium

for red and white wine because of the high government taxes. You will find the place full of westeners as the Thais would not (generally) be able to afford to eat here and would find the food perhaps too westernised for their palates.. We try and visit here each trip to Bangkok and have never been disappointed with our night out. It's best to come around 8pm to catch the magic of the fairy lights in the garden or if you prefer you can eat in air conditioned comfort inside. We usually book although during the week in the "off season" bookings probably are not required except for perhaps Saturday nights.

Good Cause, Poor Food

The atmosphere is great & the cause is a good one, but the food was terrible. We actually had to send back fish that was not fresh. Service is impersonal & factory-like. Make a donation & skip the restaurant. So many better places in BKK.

A romantic place to be in and for a good cause

We had to try the place after hearing so much about it. It lives upto its reputation. The food is excellent. Try the "shikate mushroom with kale" or "stir fried sea bass with ginger". So yummy. The atmosphere is very romantic too.

Want a unique mint with your tab?

This awesome restaurant serves up great meals along with exceptional service. A gorgeous garden setting...plan to spend the long hot evening here. Try the soft shell crab with rice and the awesome traditional appetizer called Mieng Khum. Ask the attendant how to fold the leaves to accomodate the appetizer!!

What a treat!!

We thought the philosophy behind this restaurant is great and the food is even better! The atmosphere is fantastic, sitting outside with lots of trees and plants, that are filled with christmas lights. You really don't notice you are in loud & noisy Bangkok, when you have dinner at this lovely restaurant. Try the crispy duck salad, or the lamb curry ( not spicy at all!)The wodka with fresh lemonjuice are to die for! Who wants beer when you can drink

this potion! This restaurant is definitely a must if you are in Bangkok!!

Great Value

We really liked this place. However, don't go in a hurry. They literally make things as you order them and if it's something large, it takes a little while. We ordered 2 appetizers, 1 entree, 2 desserts and 4 non-alcoholic drinks. With tip and everything it was $22. The food was very fresh and the staff very friendly.
