Cabbages & Condoms
Cabbages & Condoms Review
Don't be put off by the restaurant's odd name and the array of contraceptive devices for sale. This popular place raises funds for the Population & Community Development Association, Thailand's family-planning program. The food here is Westernized but competently prepared; standouts are the deep-fried chicken wrapped in pandanus leaves, fried fish with mango sauce, and crispy duck salad. The eatery is comfortable and funky, with Christmas lights strung about, and it serves up good food for a good cause.

I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED LAST VISIT! IT'S OVERPRICED & VERY WESTERNISED! IT'S FRIENDLY & CONVENIENTLY LOCATED NEXT TO THE MOST AWESOME SPA IN THE CITY CALLED LAVANA....BUT REALLY GIVE IT A MISS INSPITE OF ITS GOOD DEEDS!! THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME TWICE FOR TIP AS WELL!

Clean, value for money, friendly service, good food- perhaps not as spicy as the real thai version, but neverheless tasty and in a garden setting with thousands of fairy lights the restaurant makes for a great night out for casual dining. Prices are fair for the area, perhaps marked up a little to catch the tourist dollar but you won't walk out feeling you have paid too much for too little. Beer is not marked up too much although expect to pay a premium for red and white wine because of the high government taxes.
You will find the place full of westeners as the Thais would not (generally) be able to afford to eat here and would find the food perhaps too westernised for their palates.. We try and visit here each trip to Bangkok and have never been disappointed with our night out. It's best to come around 8pm to catch the magic of the fairy lights in the garden or if you prefer you can eat in air conditioned comfort inside. We usually book although during the week in the "off season" bookings probably are not required except for perhaps Saturday nights.
