Pete's Place
Pete's Place Review
Neither the main menu, nor the photos of the international celebrities who've eaten here have changed much in three decades. Famed for its antipasto, pizza, and pasta, Pete's also has an enormous soup-and-salad buffet complete with warm breads and homemade butter. The restaurant's dark, cozy aura plays second fiddle to its food. Families are very welcome here.

I first went to Pete's place (in the basement of the Hyatt) in the early 1990's. It hasn't changed. The Lasagna, Ciopinno and Pizza are as predictable but bland as ever. Each time I have eaten at Pete's it is because a colleague was "too tired" to do anything else! So, if you want safe, average, dumbed down Italian fare and are staying at the Hyatt, this is the place to go. The bigger question is "why eat Italian in Singapore if you are visiting a city that has such a rich and exciting culinary tradition????"
