Drum Tower (Gu lou)

Drum Tower (Gu lou) Review

This huge yellow pavilion, complete with a medieval clock tower, was built in AD 821. Climb to the top for a birds'-eye view of the entire city. The tower marks the entrance to an interesting pedestrian street lined with restored Ming Dynasty–style buildings. Here you'll find tiny shops, makeshift stalls, and every kind of local snack imaginable. It's an ideal spot for people-watching.
