Drum Tower (Gu lou)

Drum Tower (Gu lou) Review

This huge yellow pavilion, complete with a medieval clock tower, was built in AD 821. Climb to the top for a birds'-eye view of the entire city. The tower marks the entrance to an interesting pedestrian street lined with restored Ming Dynasty-style buildings. Here you'll find tiny shops, makeshift stalls, and every kind of local snack imaginable. It's an ideal spot for people-watching.
