Fodor's Review

This popular haunt has been baking fluffy focaccias for 20 years. There are many toppings (don't miss the black-olive spread), and some tasty starters (try the mushrooms stuffed with goat's cheese or the fried calamari). The chicken livers stir-fried with apples, shallots, and nuts are delicious. There are generous sandwich options, including the sirloin strips. This is also one of the city's few restaurants to flaunt Passover restrictions on eating leavened dough. Reserve

a table on weekends.

Friendly, but slow and over priced

Focaccia was recommended to me by the hotel and from what they told me I was looking forward to eating there. The large bread oven was the thing that really sealed the deal. When we arrived (4 of us) we were greeted politely and were made to feel welcome. A table was cleared and cleaned and we were seated near the bread over in the atrium. We ordered drinks - 4 beers, and a large pizza to share and this is when the problems started. The pizza

arrived quickly (10 minutes) but the beers took an additional 5 minutes. If you were serving a table and they were snacking while choosing mains, you'd expect to offer them drinks... unfortunately no. The beers arrived late and we drank them - joking that we should order the next round now to save time! We should have! We ordered mains and waited... I remember we all ordered beef, 2 butcher's cut of the day and 2 entrecôte. Not much was said during the meal but we came to the conclusion at the end that the beef was terrible. Very tough cuts, not cooked to order and slightly cold. The fries looked like they had been cooked, and then re-cooked for us - hard and oily. When the food arrived we asked for 4 more beers and they arrived after we had finished eating. Not good. This place has potential, but it didn't seem the staff had ANY urgency toward the customer's needs or the basic process of service. I am very used to spending time in restaurants in Israel and know that there is no joy in being rushed through a meal that you want to enjoy - however this wasn't being left alone, it was being ignored.

avoid or you will regret it

There are only a couple things that need to be said about Focaccia Restaurant: 1. On at least two occasions, we have had to wait more than half an hour outside despite having made a reservation in advance. Throughout this long delay we were treated with disdain by the hostess and actually blamed for the delay. At one point the hostess said it was normal to have such a wait, even with a booking! If you don't consider this normal, then avoid Focaccia

Restaurant. 2. Terrible service - you literally have to beg the staff to come to your table and place an order. On an earlier visit I watched a waitress chase after a customer and accuse him of not leaving a high enough tip! If you think rude treatment and aggressive staff is not okay, then avoid Focaccia Restaurant.

Focaccia Review

I have come here with my wife and also with friends. Once we held a farewell party there. It's a very cozy and nice place. The food is fine and they are open to letting us decide 'how' to eat. We asked for separate plates and common dishes, it enabled us to eat from all the dishes and still keeping an appetite. Really nice.

Very Good Food, Fun Atmosphere

We truly enjoyed our meal here. Friends noticed their new, hip design and expansion since their last visit. We all enjoyed our meal, and the sauces for the foccacia were terrific!
