The Sinai Peninsula and Red Sea Coast Hotels

Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh

Pros

  • This is a genuine five-star luxury hotel, not a package-tour resort
  • 24-hour butler service
  • Boutique size means you are never subjected to crowds of other guests

Cons

  • It's a 17-km (10-mi) journey to downtown Hurghada, though there is a strip mall within a mile of the hotel

Fodor's Review

The first boutique all-suites hotel along the Red Sea Coast, the Oberoi is still the tops. You'll stay in a Moorish-style bungalow with a living room area and private courtyard complete with a dining table if you wish to take room service al fresco. Bathrooms are luxurious, with sunken baths and glass-sided showers that open onto a second small courtyard. Grand suites have their own private, heated pools. The public areas give the impression of a 19th-century gentlemen's club with their dark wood and brass, but they are enhanced by 21st-century necessities that include a spa and spacious infinity pool. Service is discreet yet attentive.
