Tourists everywhere have been stripping down lately in places where they shouldn’t. Tourists angered Namibian authorities when they posed naked on the “Big Daddy” dune. Tourists were kicked out of Machu Picchu for taking nude photos. Bali has been similarly clamping down on tourists for disrespecting sacred temples and skinny dipping repeatedly happens in the canals of Venice. While you’ll undoubtedly land in hot water for baring it all in these spots, there are plenty of places that actively encourage nudity.
So if you’re looking to vacation in nothing but your birthday suit, head to these destination to remain on the right side of the law (and the locals).

Nude Cruises
A clothes-free cruise has recently been announced for a February 2025 sailing. A company called Bare Necessities has announced an 11-day nude cruise setting sail from Miami to the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, and then back to the Bahamas and Miami.
There are rules, like with every other nudist activity. When you sit somewhere, you should put down a towel, and you should be clothed when the ship is docked in port. No taking photos of others without consent and (it goes without saying) no inappropriate behavior.

Nudist Beaches
People love to sunbathe in the buff—you just need to know the right spots. In Florida, Haulover Beach has a clothing-optional area and it’s one of the most popular nudist beaches in the U.S. The nation has other options too, including Black’s Beach in San Diego California; Little Beach in Maui, Hawaii; and Moshup Beach in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
In the Caribbean, you can let go completely at Eden Beach, Antigua. And across the pond, you can feel free on the golden beaches of Spain—there are over 400 that don’t require swimsuits. La Musclera beach in Barcelona, El Torn beach in Catalonia, Cantarriján beach in Andalusia are just a few of the most popular options. On the Canary Islands, there are 175 nudist beaches, so you won’t feel uncomfortable stripping down on Playa de Cofete (Spain’s largest nude beach), Charco del Palo, Playa de Las Gaviotas.
If you’re on Crete in Greece, then the Red Beach is the place to let it all hang. The tiny island of Gavdos also allows people to swim and sunbathe naked on its beaches.

Nudist Resorts
Want to pack light on your next holiday? There are resorts that insist on it. Introduce yourself to nudist culture in California at the clothing-optional resort of Laguna del Sol, which offers rooms, cottages as well as camping in RVs and tents. Riviera Maya’s Hidden Beach Au Naturel is a secluded, adults-only nudist resort that’s perfect for a romantic getaway.
Jamaica has many nudist and adult resorts. One all-inclusive resort for adults is the oceanfront Grand Lido with 26 suites, a spa, and restaurants and bars serving an array of cuisines. For those who are more adventurous, there’s the swingers resort Hedonism II, where you can experiment a bit more.
There are many, many more places where you can go au naturel. In the south of Brazil, you can also check out Hotel Naturista Ubuntu. In Álora, Spain, Finca Fabulosa is a nudist resort with beautiful mountain views. Close to Paris, Héliomonde is a naturist holiday village with chalets, mobile homes, and tents along with a sauna, a restaurant, and swimming pool. Two hours away from the airport, Bali Au Naturel is a place where you can be nude without causing a stir on the island.
Nudist events are not out of the question either. On July 28, you can participate in the Bare Buns Fun Run at the Kaniksu Ranch Family Nudist Resort in Washington. Check out the American Association for Nude Recreation to find more events this summer.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure you learn the proper etiquette before jumping in. Don’t stare at anyone, don’t click photos without consent, and only engage in sexual activities in places where it’s permitted.
And, don’t get naked where it’s not welcomed—you could get fined, deported, or jailed.
