Know a Paris restaurant called Le Petit Troquet?

We have recently returned from Paris and ate twice at Le Petit Troquet, it was our favourite restaurant.
As Scarlett says the owners are charming and the restaurant just gorgeous. It is very small, no smoking and you need to book unless you go early or late. Try and go on a night when they are serving the Pork Confit with Lemon. It was devine, the first time we went it was on the menu and we returned again for it, but alas it was not there. It is truly worth checking for. It is a limited menu, but everything is so fresh and beatifully cooked it really doesn't matter what you have. It is not fine dining but a true character restaurant.

for this restaurant. It's been occupied mainly by Americans since it was recommended by Rick Steves years ago. I didn't care though, because the food was delicious. I'd definitely return.

First dinner meal my daughter and I had in Paris was in Le Petit Troquet. It is small,but as other answers agree it is very good. Your hotel might make a reservation for you as ours in the 7th did. A very kind French lady helped us find the street as we were searching. It is on a side street that one might overlook. I definitely would eat there again.

Le Petit Troquet in the 7th is a wonderful little restaurant. Dimly lit, great food, nice wine list and very reasonable prices. Watching the owner do her magic in making the place run like clockwork, all the while humming along with music on the radio is a sight to behold. Downsides? Recommended by Rick Steves, so plenty of americans there on any given night; smoking allowed, so it can get heavy.

I don't usually read restaurant threads, but for some reason I read this one carefully. I notice a glaring inconsistency: one person says it's no-smoking, and another says smoking is allowed and it can get heavy. I'm one of those people who avoids places with smpoke, or at least I have to avoid places with heavy smoke, and sitting in a smoky place would be totally inconsistent with enjoying what I'm eating or my time spent in a place. so which is it? Are you all talking about the same place?

I was only there last month and it was definately no smoking, except the table right by the window where people were smoking and blowing the smoke out of the window which was wide open!! We found the no-smoking in Europe to have improved 10 fold in the last three years. A very pleasant improvement I have to say.

Have had several great meals there, and yes, the owner is quite charming and graciously endured my pitiful French!
Ecole Militaire might be the closest Metro. It's in a funny little section of the 7th that doesn't have as many metro stops as other areas. But it's a nice walk from Ecole-Militaire - five minutes max.

Bistro de Breteuil is closer to Duroc or Segur metros, but you can definitely walk to it from Ecole Militaire. Petit Troquet is in the opposite direction - more towards the Seine. Ecole Militaire is nicely placed between the two!
