Zion NP to Yellowstone

How many days can I expect the drive from ZION NP in Utah to Yellowstone to take? Any suggested routes?

Thanks!

My best recollection is that its a little over 300 miles from Zion to Salt Lake City (most of it on I-15), and from Salt Lake City to Yellowstone is a 6-7 hour drive. All told, you are probably talking about 11-12 hours of driving.

According to Mapquest.Com, it's 677 miles, and 12 hours, between Springdale UT and West Yellowstone MT. I would strongly recommend breaking this trip into two days, stopping north of Salt Lake City along US 89.

Neal - it would be a shame to visit Zion & not drive north via Hyw. 89 to see Bryce also. It's a beautiful drive & will take about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. If you're limited on time, you can see Bryce by driving to the viewpoints. It's best if you have time to hike at least a little. The canyon & hoodoos are facinating up close.

PS - if you need the fastest most direct route - go up I15. If you can split your trip to 2 days - stay over in Park City, you'll love it.

I agree you should take the time to stop off at BRyce for a day at least even if it means cutting back on Yellowstone time. They are two totally different parks and worth visiting but, so far as I am concerned, Bryce rates very high up on the national parks that should be visited.
