Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Cody
Planning trip to Yellowstone & Grand Teton.
Will be staying in Old Faithful. How far a drive is it from Old Faithful to Cody if I want to return at night?
Anyone recommend entering Park thru West, East, or South Entrance?

Take the South Entrance via the Tetons. Or, if you've got the time after Cody, swing north a bit and come in (if this trip is a summer trip) over Beartooth Highway/Pass and tne Northeast entrance, a wonderful trip if you've got the time.
Old Faithfull to Cody is do able if the roads are open and you've got all day.

OF to Cody is "about" 3 hours IF you go pretty much non-stop and IF the traffic isn't heavy. It would be a full daytrip assuming normal speeds and stops. I'd plan on getting an early start b4 traffic, then take your time on the return trip.
"Best" entrances are South and Northeast, (and some would argue the East..Cody side) mostly taking into account the scenery on the roads leading to the park.

Since I originally posted my question, this is what I have tentatively done:
Holding free reservations with Delta to fly into West Yellowstone on September 14 and depart from Jackson Sept 21 and hoping the weather at that time of the year is decent. Cannot book flight to fly into Jackson and out of West Yellowstone at a reasonable hour. Does anyone recommend that I fly both into and out of Jackson instead? (I thought it would be alot of backtracking)
Considering staying at Old Faithful 4 nights to use as centerpost to explore Yellowstone, then move to Jenny Lake 4? nights. Would I be better off staying in Jackson Hole and driving to Grand Teton or driving from Grand Teton to Jackson for the larger selection of restaurants, shopping, etc.
We are going to the area to see and explore. We are not avid hikers, boaters, or fisherpersons. We are able to hike the shorter, easy trails.
I appreciate any suggestions

I think if this is your first time to either park, staying in the park adds to the ambience and the experience.
I know the nights we stayed near Old Faithfull were special. If you possibly are able to do so, take in an eruption of either Grand Geyser or Castle Geyser at night under a full moon.
My girlfriend (of 45 years) and I took in Riverside and Grand one night with a gorgeous full moon turning the water into silver.
As for the entrance, I heartily agree, come in over the Beartooth Highway.
It is spectacular to say the least.
But, do not use the northeast entrance!!
Drive from the Wyoming side of the Beartooth to Cody and come in that way.
The road from the Beartooth Highway to Cody takes you along the Absoraka Mountains. The views are excellent, too. We did that trip last June, and I would not take anything for having done it.
I think you may find 4 nights at Jenny lake a bit much. I haven't found 4 days worth to do in the Tetons because I am not into climbing those things.
Be sure to see the museum at the Colter Bay Visitor Center. The exhibition of Native American artifacts is outstanding. There are clothes, war clubs, and other artifacts that are to me works of art.

I'm not sure what type of group you're traveling with (kids?) but we took a similiar trip last summer. I would recommend 3 nights in Yellowstone, 2-3 nights in Grand Teton National Park and 1-2 nights in Jackson. All three areas are worth visiting. We loved the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone and would recommend the Signal Mountain Lodge in the Tetons. My teenage kids enjoyed getting "back to civilization" in Jackson.

Husband and I are traveling alone.
Staying in Yellowstone 4 nights because I think we will need that much time not to be rushing. Trying to decide whether to stay at Jenny Lake 4; 2 for touring and 2 nights to "crash" and "do nothing" but relax after chasing around at the beginning of the week. OR Staying 4 nights in Jackson and driving back and forth to see the Grand Teton?
Husband does not want to change hotels 3 times in less than a week

Crashing time was not factored in to my estimate. Jenny Lake is pretty.
I cannot argue that it is not.
My only real comment is that I think hou would enjoy the Beartooth traverse.
This past May, We drove to the crest the first day the road was open. There was plenty of snowmobile activity around us and high snow banks. Pretty!!
The town of Red Lodge has several good motels. The Yodler seems to be a good place, assuming it is still owned and run by the same peopole.
