Wsahington Nationals Stadium... help with details!
We're taking my son to Washington DC for a combo business/birthday trip and sneaking in a Nationals/Brewer's game on Saturday night!
I'm wondering if the ballpark is easily accessible from the Metro and if not, what's the best way to get there?
Are there any food vendors in the ballpark to completely avoid? Anything classic/regional to the park that we must try?
My son is a huge baseball fan and happy to be getting to experience another ballpark!

tchoiniere, where are you?
G Sandwich, Ben's Chili Bowl, and Blue Smoke BBQ are ballpark versions of local and popular restaurants. I like crab cakes and the Chesapeake Crab Co. (I think that's it) does a good one. Not a local chain but excellent burgers and shakes can be found at Shake Shack.
Closest metrorail station is Navy Yard -- less than a 10 minute walk to the stadium. I think it's pretty easy. Short walk and just follow the crowd.
Have a great trip!

I did see the metro information on the website... just wondered if that or the DC Connector was better... less crowded. I imagine it will all be crowded! lol We will go early and hang out and explore. My son would someday love to go to all the ballparks. He asks to go places like Chicago, Boston and Scottsdale ( kinda hot in the summer!) for all of our family vacations!

I've never taken the Circulator to the ballpark so I can't answer that but you are correct that it's all pretty busy before and after the game.
Your son sounds like a great kid and I hope you guys have a great time!

We took the metro both ways in July and it was great even though it was busy, BUT, it was a Sunday night and we had to leave before the last pitch to make the last train. I don't know if that's an issue on a Saturday night.

You won't have to leave the game early on a Saturday night to catch Metro as it stays open until after 2am on Saturday nights. Likewise, it appears that the Circulator bus on the Navy Yard route runs late on nights there is a ball game.
Metro is crowded, especially after the game, but I have no information on the Circulator bus as it is a pretty new route. If you decide to take it, let us know how it goes.

Take the metro. It is 1 block to the stadium.
When walking to the stadium from the metro go to the left around the stadium and down to the river walk/park. Really nice way to kill time and new restaurants have opened in that area.

There is a Ben's Chili Bowl and a Shake Shack in the stadium. Decent Beer selection throughout the park too. It's a great park for watching the game as there are no bad seats.
Metro is definitely the way to get to and from the park. It will be crowded though. I have missed the last train as the game was running to very late thanks to rain delays.
You can get some distant views of the Capitol and Washington Monument from the Upper Deck.

Metro is the way to go, as others have said.
Ballpark food is mostly overpriced and not very good. Of all the concessions, we like Shake Shack burgers the best but the lines are very, very long. Max's Kosher Stand makes very good falafel sandwiches but they'll probably be closed on Saturday. Mike Isabella's sandwich stand ("G") makes a pretty good chicken parm sandwich.
You can also bring in food from outside the park. We often stop at Taylor Gourmet in DC or the Italian Store in Arlington and get subs to bring to the park. That way, we eat better for half the price of ballpark fare and use the savings to wash it down with one of the park's excellent selection of beers.
